Here are a few nice words from Carmel Shortall at Camden Fringe Voyeur, regarding Glyn and David's latest stand-up show:
REVIEW: Doggett and Ephgrave Project Stuff
By Carmel Shortall
It’s all there in the title of the show: Glyn Doggett and David Ephgrave do indeed project stuff as part of their stand-up act. The ‘stuff’ has been found all over the place but mostly on the internet and the duo have an eye for the bizarre, the sinister and the downright ridiculous.
It’s like being treated to a crazed relative’s holiday snaps except this relative displays an unhealthy interest in beards and goes to Great Yarmouth for his holidays.
Beard Board, a forum for people so boring that their beards are the most interesting thing about themselves, is a truly terrifying look into the heart of banality. Then there is the guy with his own YouTube channel dedicated to the gentle ‘art’ of manualism or hand-farting.
Sinister song lyrics, photographs of the exhibits in the worst wax museum in the world, a giant Zippy costume and the question, why is Andy Murray’s mouth so square, all form part of this likeable and engaging pair’s routine. We were warned at the beginning that there are 309 slides and told to “strap in” but who’s counting?
Doggett and Ephgrave can pop up with or without their projector and it is worth searching them out.
Hitchin's finest (or only) comedy double act, Doggett and Ephgrave, present their first new stand-up show in two years at the Etcetera Theatre in London this August, as part of this year's Camden Fringe Festival.
The self-professed 'small-town comedy duo' - whose previous credits include eight seasons with The Comedy Project (Soho Theatre), the collection of filmed sketches 'Doggett & Ephgrave's Comedy Shorts', their two previous stand-up shows 'Big in Small Places' (Meadow Bar, Edinburgh) and 'Comedy Job Lot' (Camden Head and Etcetera Theatre, London), the comedy play 'The Balloon Debate' (Gilded Balloon, Edinburgh) plus four years hosting and running their Hitchin-and-Edinburgh-based comedy club, Mostly Comedy - make their third appearance on the Camden Fringe this summer.
In 'Doggett & Ephgrave Project Stuff', Glyn and David push their oft-neglected third member (their projector) to the forefront, for an hour of slideshow-based stand-up. God forbid they have a power-cut.
Tickets are £7.50, and are available from the Box Office on 020 7482 4857, or via www.camdenfringe.com.

29.04.12 'What's the Time, Mr Wolf?' hits Brighton and Hitchin
This May, Doggett & Ephgrave join forces with BBC Radio 4's Ben Tinniswood to present a brand new production of Vincent Cassar's award-winning play, 'What's the Time, Mr Wolf?'; a darkly comic one-hander, which is being performed for three nights at the Market Theatre in Hitchin, prior to a week-long run as part of this year's Brighton Fringe Festival.
The play centres around Conrad Kordover; an odd man with strange habits, who lives on his own in a small bedsit. He is a Pagan, and an eccentric - whose unconventional behaviour and beliefs have drawn attention from both his community and the local authorities.
When a brutal murder is committed, it isn't long before the police come knocking. But with little substantial evidence to go by, is this simply a case of needing to find a scapegoat?
'What's the Time, Mr Wolf?' was originally performed in 2001 at the Alma Tavern Theatre, Bristol, after winning Theatre West's 'Search for a Script' competition that same year. It was exceptionally well-received, also going on to win a Bristol Evening Post Theatre Award.
The revival is performed by BBC Radio 4's Ben Tinniswood. ('deft comic touches' - Fringe Report) and directed by local actor Glen Davies (BBC1's 'Bear Behaving Badly').
'What's the Time, Mr Wolf?' runs from 13-15 May at the Market Theatre, Hitchin. Tickets are £10.00 / £8.50 concessions, and are available either by calling the Box Office on 01462 433553, or via www.markettheatre.co.uk.
Its Brighton run then takes place from the 23-27 May at Laughing Horse @ The Temple, Brighton at 4.30pm. For more information, click here

NEWS JUST IN: From September 2010 onwards, Doggett & Ephgrave's popular Herts-based comedy club will be moving to a brand new home: Bombora Bar & Grill, on Bancroft, Hitchin.
This is due to long-term building work at the George, which puts the venue space out of action indefinitely.
The venue may be changing, but the club will still stay the same; pulling in the same top acts from the comedy scene at an exceptionally cheap rate. Stay tuned for more details.
04.09.10 - Episodes two & three of 'D & E's Edinburgh Experience'
Parts two and three of Glyn and David's Edinburgh video diary are now up on YouTube; so should you fancy an intimate insight into their Edinburgh adventures (not in a sexy way), click HERE.
20.08.10 - Episode One of 'Doggett & Ephgrave's Edinburgh Experience'
Just to let you know you can now catch the first instalment of David and Glyn's fly-on-the-wall Edinburgh video diary on YouTube. To watch it, click here.
14.08.10 - Last Mostly Comedy in Edinburgh
Tonight saw the final instalment of D & E's Edinburgh run of Mostly Comedy - and what a cracker it was to end on. Many thanks to all of the acts who came along to the Counting House Ballroom to strut their funky - and don't forget, you can still catch David and Glyn's stand-up show, which runs at the Meadow Bar until the 29th August at 6.30pm.
13.08.10 - Tasty Review from Chortle
Just over half-way through their Edinburgh Festival run, and Glyn and David have received a nice little review from the industry-standard comedy website, Chortle. Here's what they said (review by Cara Sandys);
"Many performers would have been daunted if faced with an audience of four. Not Doggett and Ephgrave, they performed with such confidence and enthusiasm that I wished they'd been playing to a packed room.
With loads of material trawled from obscure websites projected behind them, this was an entertaining hour. A top 10 of hilarious true life magazine headlines provided plenty of laughs, along with an letter one of them discovered when they moved into a new house… which turned out to be a piece of gay porn. A Dutch phrase book also provided plenty of comic material – although making two of the audience read the translation in Dutch is probably only funny for anyone who actually came from the Netherlands.
Some of the content had a too much coverage. While the Japanese Wings tribute band were amusingly awful, dwelling on it wasn't going to make it any funnier. Conversely, the skilful interpretation of how to make shadow animals could've gone on longer, such was its comic value.
Beautiful singing and ukulele playing added more variety to an already entertaining show, and these charming performers deserve a better venue than one wedged between the stairs, the pub kitchen and the toilets".
11.08.10 - Mass-ukulele photo shoot
Bright and early this morning Glyn and David moseyed on over to Pleasance Ghillie Dhu, for a mass-photo shoot of many of the uke players featured at this year's Edinburgh Festival (during which, Glyn prayed that no-one would clock the fact that he's actually only a beginner).
For a glimpse of the picture (which featured in The Scotsman), click here; N.B. Glyn is standing somewhere behind David (not in a gay way).
10.08.10 - Three Weeks Review of BISP
Here are a few nice words from Three Weeks, regarding Doggett & Ephgrave's Edinburgh run of 'Big in Small Places'; selective quoting? US?:
"a good comedy double act: they're bright, clean-cut, have a sparky chemistry with a good line when it comes to gentle self-deprecation".

17.08.09 Comedy Job Lot Review
See below for some nice words about Doggett and Ephgrave's Comedy Job Lot, taken from the Camden Fringe Voyeur:
Doggett & Ephgrave: Comedy Job Lot
Chris Lean
Despite sounding like a firm of chartered accountants, Doggett and Ephgrave demonstrated ample ability to tickle the funny bone with their show ‘Comedy Job Lot’ at the Camden Head.
The duo already run a successful comedy night in Hertfordshire and this is their first solo venture on the Camden Fringe. It’s pretty much impossible to sum up their act in a simple sentence – I guess that’s why they call it a ‘job lot’. The upside is that it’s fast-moving and allows for plenty of funny ideas; the downside is that it makes it hard to pin down what kind of act they are. But they offer a snappy mix of gags, sketches and songs, including a particularly funny skit revolving around using Star Trek actor’s names as sexual euphemisms, a ukulele number and a careful dissection of the worst (or best) of ‘real life’ mag headlines.
It’s a quirky set that hits the mark most of the time, despite an occasional over-reliance on showing us things that they found funny rather their own gags. But they’ve got a keen eye for the absurd and they’re both polished, natural comedians who act and feel comfortable on stage despite performing in a very difficult time slot. This voyeur for one enjoyed their gig a lot, and might take up shadow puppetry as a result.
16.07.09 - "Comedy Job Lot" at the Camden Head (10th - 15th August 2009)
For six nights only, Doggett and Ephgrave will be bringing their first entirely solo show to the Camden Fringe – and giving audiences a tantalising insight into their slightly skewed take on the world. Audiences will be treated to a whistle-stop tour through the everyday minutiae of Glyn and David's lives; everything from Star Trek to shadow puppetry, Capri Sun to kissing cousins and Gordon Brown to Gary Glitter.

21.08.08 – Edinburgh Reviews
Some of the nice things said about Doggett and Ephgrave during their Edinburgh run (more to follow):
'This trio have hit on a great set-up for cringe comedy'. - FEST
'Doggett and Ephgrave really put their hearts into it. They deliver a fun, laugh out loud warming drama – fun for all the family who don't mind a bit of vulgar language' – EDFRINGE.TV
'Humorously quirky' – THREE WEEKS
'Doggett and Ephgrave share an endearing dynamic.' - FEST
20.08.08 - Glyn and David do 'Spank!'
Do not be alarmed - the above statement is not an admission of any kinky 'man-on-man' goings on between the comedy duo...
Doggett and Ephgrave ventured over to the Belly Dancer at the Underbelly last night for a last-minute inclusion on the bill of the popular late-night sketch and stand-up show 'Spank!'. They were pulled in with literally minutes to spare when another act dropped out a short notice.
A sold-out crowd were treated to an impromptu performance from Troy Matthews and Portakabin - as well as a quick rendition of 'The Ukulele Song' (featuring Glyn in a grass skirt...and very little else).
The gig was filmed by Myspace for their new comedy page; any clips will be put up on www.doggettandephgrave.co.uk as soon as they surface.
17.08.08 - Edfringe.TV Review of "The Balloon Debate"
"What could be more romantic that a hot air balloon ride, 2000 feet above beautiful countryside, complete with heart-shaped sandwiches and an engagement ring? A lot of things. Being stuck in the hot air balloon (acquired from a con artist) not with your spouse to be, but your cranky best mate and a pilot suffering the aftermath of a dodgy Indian, is not one of them.
It seems that in the confines of a hot air balloon basket, thousands of feet above ground, is where your worst fears come to be realised and panic sets in. Who knew? With much paranoia, consoling, whinging and medical confessions, Doggett and Ephgrave make great use of the space (being limited to the small basket space) and really put their hearts into it. They deliver a fun, laugh out loud warming drama, fun for all the family who don't mind a bit of vulgar language.
A hot air balloon ride; apparently one of the top 50 things to do before you die… And if you do embark upon this journey, remember, objects falling from a great height can kill a person".

4.06.08 - Big Day Out Reunite to Raise Money for Doggett and Ephgrave
Yes, the unthinkable is about to happen! Popular Hitchin-based band from 'the days of yore' - and one-time bedmates of Slade, The Troggs, Kula Shaker and The Supernaturals – are reuniting to play their first gig in six years, all in aid of the Doggett and Ephgrave Edinburgh Festival Fund.
The gig will be taking place at Club 85, Hitchin on Thursday 24th of July – with doors opening at 7.45pm and the first band on at 8.15pm. Support will come from My Pet Junkie and The Otters...with a little bit of Doggett and Ephgrave thrown into the bargain.
So come along and watch Dave, Mark and Chris as they struggle to remember who played what...and how all the songs even went in the first place.
Check out the Facebook Events page on the BDO gig here.
28.05.08 - Doggett and Ephgrave Return From Edinburgh Recce
With the month-long festival run of “The Balloon Debate” looming ever nearer, Mr Doggett and Mr Ephgrave thought it wise to visit Edinburgh for a two day recce to suss out what else needs to be done (not to mention what needs to be added to their ever-growing credit card balance). Whilst there they visited the venue, their digs and even found time to do a spot of sightseeing (PLEASE NOTE: No haggis was eaten during this trip).
